In this photograph, while not IN Pasco County, is a newly constructed bridge, on Alt U.S. 19 in Tarpon Springs, and is a very important connector between Pasco and Pinellas Counties. The lower right of the photograph shows an old Alternate 19, with Dodecanese Boulevard, obviously not the tourist attraction we know of today, heading west along the piers of the Sponge Docks. The large building in at the intersection is no longer there, it being razed and used for many years as parking for Pappas Restaurant. Some of the smaller old houses along this road still stand today. The little home on Dodecanese Boulevard, just west of Alt 19, on the left hand side, would be removed to make way for Louis Pappas Restaurant, a very famous and very busy establishment. Pappas Restaurant opened its doors on this site in 1975, after 50 years of serving Greek food in an old warehouse on Stilts called "The Riverside Cafe". The restaurant closed for business in September 2005, ending a family tradition of serving the finest Greek food for over 75 years. Photo by Angelo Deciucies; caption (2008) by David A. Henry.
